My Art Story

my largest wall to date
I wanted to create a space on this website to discuss how I discovered the world of mural art.

It began when we bought our home in central Florida one year ago and I decided to paint the house myself. I decided to go room by room, one at a time, whatever color or style spoke to me. My oldest daughter’s room was first, of course. Late one night while brainstorming ideas when I had a stroke of genius - her room would become a mermaid's paradise. I catapulted myself out of bed (and directly into home depot's paint section) first thing in the morning to grab 5 cans of paint of various mermaid shades.

The mermaid room that started it all

I proceeded to race home and begin mapping out the swirl pattern across the walls from top to bottom. Well, I dont know about you, but when I get an idea that exhilirates me, NOTHING CAN STOP ME! Upon completion of the swirls, I painted a few strategically placed sparkly mermaid tails around the room - completing the vibe of the space with a mermaid rug, curtains and comforter! :D

At the completion of my first room, I knew that designing and painting spaces was a passion of mine. I felt an enormous sense of pride and purpose that had been missing in my life. It felt as if I was discovering what I was meant to do. I knew I wanted to continue this journey and push myself along the way. I spent countless hours (usually way too late at night) researching everything I could about murals and decorative painting while simultaneously embarking on my next room.

Me with my two little inspirations

I began to learn a variety of technical skills such as utilizing digital software and scaling designs, what type of paint finish to use for each room, how light affects paint tone, etc. As time went on, room by room, idea by idea, experiment by experiment, and mistake by mistake, I honed my skill into the art of designing and painting murals.

When I am creating art, I feel the most like myself. I want to share my love of art with the world. The idea that I am able to help others find joy by creating spaces to make their lives both more cheerful and more representive of them is really a dream come true.
